Janet and Marry - The Co-Founders of Creating Sustainable Communities, one home at a time

Janet Tanner & Mary T Millican – CSC Co-Founders

We co-founded Creating Sustainable Communities, One Home at a Time (formerly Real Estate Agents Recycle) because we believe a tolerable planet is dependent upon connecting homeowners to organizations dedicated to environmental and humanitarian stewardship that promote social equity and ecological sustainability. We believe Realtors have the power to make a positive impact on the environment, and efforts to reduce unemployment and homelessness by facilitating initiatives to reduce material and energy waste and sponsoring organizations that are dedicated to creating green jobs and promoting affordable, permanent housing . The mission of CSC is to engage Realtors in Sustainable Actions that benefit their clients, the environment and the communities they serve.

At an NAR Sustainability Summit, 2022 NAR President Leslie Rouda Smith made the following remarks: “Our industry is on the front lines of a critical business and societal issue- Sustainability. No group is better positioned to lead than Realtors. We are integral in driving vibrant, healthy and resilient communities, whether urban, suburban or rural. Now is the time for all of us to channel our energy toward even more member driven sustainability initiatives”.
